Nature of request
1) The petitioners show that they are ousted from many of their spiritualities and temporalities by the activities of certain predecessors of the abbot without the assent of the convent under the seals of the abbey taken out of the treasury of the abbey against the form of their order, whereof the convent has nothing to sustain them, divine serice, hospitality and other works of charity so that if they do not have remedy the house will be undone forever. They request that a remedy be ordained in relief of the house by his lordship and power that the monks serving God there be able to have sufficient from their own possessions to maintain their hospitality and their other works of charity that pertain to the charge of the abbey.2) They further request that they be discharged from the tenth that are granted by the clergy in aid of the king for the estates that are not in their hand until they are able to recover them.
