Nature of request
Clynton states that her husband enfeoffed his estates and she was granted the castle and manor of Maxstoke, and that the remainder of her husband's estates were settled on them both and the heirs of their bodies legitimately begotten. After the death of her husband she remained seised of the estates until ousted by John and Richard Clynton and a multitude of men who have wasted her estates and remain in possession of them. She requests that the king consider the grievances and injuries that she has suffered for a long time and that lately writs have been addressed to John Clynton to answer for this under pain and he has not appeared, that she have due remedy, and that she is able to be able to be restored the her estates, or otherwise ordain that certain notable persons are able to have the keeping and governance of the them by the king's letters patent until this is discussed.

Memorandum of the decision of the council on 28 February in the tenth year of the reign at Westminster that proceedings be taken on this matter.
