Nature of request
Cloere requests remedy as he sold in peacetime to Bykeleye cloth of Douai costing 34 marks for which he had Bykeleye's letters patent. When the goods of the men of Flanders were lately attached in London, Cloere's goods were also taken and these included these letters. Because it was found in the Exchequer that Cloere owed the king a certain sum, Bykeleye to answer for the 34 marks. Bykeleye then approached Cloere to make letters of acquittance of an older date and he would pay the money at certain terms. When the term came he refused to pay in deceit of Cloere and the king.
