Clere states that for the costs that he incurred as crier before the justices of the king before the king, his father and grandfather and where the king's grandfather in his Scottish war by his grace granted to Clere the keeping of Whittlewood forest, Salcey Forest or Fawsley Hundred at the ancient farm for the term of his life or another office or bailiwick which is suitable for him if it pleases the king.

The petition is clearly in Edward III's reign as it refers back to his father's time, and to the Scottish war of his grandfather. Also this petition has an additional endorsement that seems to refer to Richard de Bury before he was bishop of Durham so placing this petition between 1327-1333.
