Nature of request
The commonalty show that the Cleet found a boat wrecked in the sea charged with many goods and merchandises to the value of £5,000 of which £1,000 remained in his possession. The king ordered the justice assigned to enquire of such forfeitures to enquire into whose hands the goods had come, Cleet knowing this fled to Berkshire fearing that he would be attached as a result of two hundred bills being presented against him by the poor people of the country to whom Cleet owes issues for defaults worth £100 as appears on the rolls of the justices. Cleet has escaped these issues by fleeing to Berkshire.
Nature of endorsement
Let a writ be made to Everdon that he cause to be brought to the Exchequer the estreats of his rolls of those times, then let this petition be ordered by writ to the treasurer and barons that when they have viewed the estreats and petition they should do for the king what should be done.
