Choffyn states that they came to Teignmouth and unloaded their goods when men assigned by commission of the king [thinking them to be?] aliens came and arrested their boat and delivered it to the keeping of the bailiff and burgesses of . . . He requests that . . . will deliver . . . by writ or by letter of the king by which Choffyn and his companions are able to have remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the bailiffs that if they are able to ascertain that the petitioner is of the friendship of the king and that he took the goods of the enemies of the king then they are to deliver the boat to him together with the goods.
