Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/39/1902
Date
[1311]
Description
Petitioners
Thomas de la Chapel.
Name(s)
Chapel, Thomas
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Newton Reigny, [Cumberland]
Braimbra (Bramery), [Cumberland]
Nature of request
Chapel requests the king's licence to give land which he holds from the king in Newton to the chapel which he has newly made in Bramery.
Nature of endorsement
He should have a writ of inquisition ad quod damnum.
Note
The petition can be firmly dated to 1310 by the licence granted to Chapel which was issued on 1 May 1311. Allowing time for the inquisition to be held and the findings reported, 1310 seems a reasonable assessment of the date (CPR 1307-13, p.338).
