Description
Petitioners
Abbess and convent of Canonleigh
Addressees
King and council
Nature of request
The petitioners show that the king had ordered that satisfaction be made to them for money which had been taken from them, for which they have sued for a long time. The king had granted them £100 of land to be given them by the escheator south of the Trent, but they have received nothing. They have petitioned for the same at the last parliament at York, and it was ordained but the chancellor would not suffer the writs to pass the seal. They request satisfaction be made to them by the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer or in another suitable manner if the house is not to be ruined by the default.
Nature of endorsement
The king is being counselled concerning this petition.
