Nature of request
Cailly requests that Cornwall be removed from the office of gate-keeper of the castle of Norwich with the keeping of prisoners kept in the castle, or that Cailly be discharged from the perils of escapes and grant a writ to the sheriff on this. Cailly was granted the custody of the castle to be kept at his peril but Corwall came with a commission claiming the office of gate-keeper.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council of the king that the king is able to dispose of this keeping as he wishes, and the sheriff is meanwhile to be discharged.

The petition dates to 1333-1334 for Cailly's term was from November 1333 until October 1335, and the bailiwick had already been granted to William de Cornwall in August 1333 (CPR 1330-4, p.464).
