Geoffrey de Bysseye
Name(s)
de Bysseye, Geoffrey

King and council
Nature of request
Bysseye requests remedy as he was placed in the wardship of Jarpeville, which wardship was bought by his mother, but Stratton has ejected them from their lands and wasted them, and Bysseye has still not recovered them as Adam extracted a grant of 20s. annual rent from Busseye although he was within age.
Nature of endorsement
Geoffrey renounced before the chancellor his plea moved before the treasurer and barons concerning this petition, and because before the [king's] passage he has acquired a writ for himself in chancery according to common law.By the chancellor.
People mentioned
David de Jarpeville
Katherine [de Bysseye], mother of the petitioner
Adam de Stratton
Note
The petition dates to c. 1290 for at this time Stratton had forfeited his estates to the king for a felony of which he was convicted, in the purge of the administration following the return of Edward I from Gascony in 1289. It is unlikely that the petitioner would have acted against Stratton if he had still been in power.
