Nature of request
Byset requests that he will not be the loser for his service and that the king will fulfil his father's offer of 200 marks of land which the king has adjourned to Windsor promising to do him justice on his next coming to Scotland which was in the previous August, but nothing happened. He further requests some sustenance as the Scots have occupied all his Scottish lands. He also requests a letter to the chancellor of Scotland to deliver the lands of his brother's wife that are in the keeping of John de Segrave so that she can have seisin as she is of full age.
Nature of endorsement
It is to be respited until it is found how much land will content him, and the king will have regard for his great service.Concerning the third petition he should come into Chancery and have a writ to the chancellor of Scotland that he should do full justice according to the custom of that country.

The petition is dated by Bain to after July 1308. This assessment seems to be based on evidence in the petition concerning the king's coming to Scotland (Bain, vol. III, no.49, p.10).
