Nature of request
The abbot shows that he holds 5 fees in chief of the king for knight service for which he made his fine in the king's last Scottish war. The king holds 4 of these fees that the late queen purchased and the abbot is charged with the service and cannot have an allowance for them. The abbot requests that the king will make allowance for these four fees in the fine.
Nature of endorsement
Carleton and Kirkeby are assigned to enquire by what fee the manors are held of the abbot, and they should assess how much that fee should be valued and return the inquisition into Chancery. According to what they find in the inquisition it is ordered to the treasurer and barons that they should make allowance to the abbot.
