Name(s)
Broun (Brown), Steven
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Broun states he leased to Graham for three years his several pasture in the field of Acklam. Graham paid all his tithes to Corbridge. Corbridge does not consider himself to be fully satisfied of the tithes, though Broun answered him that he ought not to have two tithes for the land. Corbridge would not allow this and excommunicated him without process and judgement whereby he was ultimately imprisoned and was pledged so that he could not leave prison until he had given the tenth penny of the farm to his damage of £40. He requests remedy as he can have no remedy from the archbishop of York.
Nature of endorsement
Coram consilio. In Chancery he should have a writ of attachment against the prohibition.

People mentioned

Thomas de Corbrige (Corbridge), Chancellor of York and Parson of Acklam

Note
The petition refers to the petitioner's imprisonment in 1288, and it seems unlikely that the petition is that much later.
