Brokesburne states that he was granted the keeping of the park of Hay next to Knaresborough for his service, but was ousted following Edward I's death by Gaveston to whom Knaresborough had been granted. He requests that the king grant him the bailiwick or something elsewhere.1)

He should show his charter in Chancery, and the truth of this thing should be inquired of, and the king be certified of it.2) Coram domino rege.
