Nature of request
1) The Jews request a writ to the treasurer and barons that they let them have a true account from Wattelegh who has surcharged them for things that are not due, and, for those things that are found to be rightly charged, that they have a reasonable term for payment.2) They request that for the business contained in this schedule for the Jews of Bristol be expedited by the king and of other things intimated by them for because it is fitting to have council at the Exchequer.3) The community request that because the Christians . . . certain of their charters one part of which is in the chest of the king where they are unsealed just as they are in London, and be delivered to the Chirographers.4) The constable of Bristol prays a writ to the treasurer and to Seitone that there is no reason for the summons that he received to go to London to take the tallage of the Jews of Bristol to answer for the sum at the coming of the king.

The petition possibly dates to 1273 because a mandate was issued to Adam de Winton, who is indeed mentioned on the back of the petition concerning the chests of the debts of the chirographers (CPR 1272-81, p.6).
