The people request that the king will assign certain justices to enquire oyer and terminer in the town of all manner of trespasses which the mayor, bailiffs and keepers of prisons and other ministers have made by colour of their office since his coronation, and that they have power to hold assizes.

The petition probably dates to the period 1328-1329 as there is a commission granted on 21 February 1329 (CPR 1327-30, p.424). However it is not entirely clear whether the grievances mentioned in the petition can be equated to those detailed in the commission.
