Nature of request
Brewes requests remedy as the sheriff has ousted her from a messuage in Southampton for the rebellion of Treys, though Treys gave the messuage to her by a good charter long before the forfeiture.

Faithful men are assigned in Chancery to enquire of the veracity of the contents of the petition, and return a certificate of the inquisition.

The petition clearly dates to 1304 because for a writ for an inquisition into the matter was issued on 15 March 1324, the inquisition itself held 16 September 1324, and the order to Robert Hungerford the keeper of forfeited lands in Southampton was ordered not to intermeddle further with the lands and restore the revenues on 28 October 1324 (CIM 1307-49, no.785; CCR 1323-7, p.228).
