Nature of request
Breedon states that she received as dower after the death of her husband lands and rents in Breedon and Chelaston. The sheriffs of Leicestershire and Derbyshire have come and seized the lands and rents into the king's hand together with the lands of William de Breedon, her husband's son by his forfeiture. She requests remedy.1)
Nature of endorsement
Let the king be certified in Chancery on the cause of the taking and when, and his estate should be enquired of, and let justice be done.2) Coram rege Blasdon.

The petition securely dates to 1322 as orders were issued on 30 June 1322 to the sheriff of Leicestershire and to Robert de Gaddusby not to intermeddle further with the lands (CCR 1318-23, pp.468, 473-4).The inquisition also dates to this time, the writ being dated to 20 May 1322 (CIM 1307-49, no.477).
