Description
Petitioners
John de Bray.
Name(s)
de Bray, John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Bray shows that the king granted to him the office of usher of his receipt, and ordered a writ to the treasurer and chamberlains to receive the office, and to keep the office as long as he is faithful for the accustomed wages. However Dymmok has purchased a commission to have the office, and a writ on the same to put him in the office wrongfully. He requests that not withstanding the commission according to the effect of the writ that the commission be revoked.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered by a writ of the great seal to the treasurer, barons and chamberlains of the Exchequer that they view the letters of the privy seal whereof the petition makes mention. If they find that the office was granted to Bray so long as he has acted well and no fault was found in him, then they are to suffer him to have the office according to the purport of the letters, notwithstanding the commission to Dymmok or orders to them to deliver the office to him.
People mentioned

Note
The petition can be dated to 1338 when the order to permit Bray to have the office was issued (CCR 1337-9, p.296).
