Nature of request
The merchants show that they have been used to coming to England with their cloths to sell them, and to buy wool to carry back to their towns in Brabant for their own work, and not to carry it to any other place. Now they are arrested for preparing to go to the staple so that they suffer great loss and damage. They request that the king hold to the old usages and customs.
Nature of endorsement
Concerning this point that they come into England and buy wool and take it to their own houses to make drapes, and not to sell it, it is enjoined to the mayor of the staple by the council that they do not molest them for this reason.
