Nature of request
Bourg, tenant of lands of Damory shows that Damory in the time of Edward II was forced by the Despensers to make recognizances in 12,000 marks to them, which sums by the forfeiture of Despensers are now demanded by summons of the Exchequer to the great damage of Bourg and the ruin of her estate. She requests that the king pardon the demand by his letters patent, and order a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to discharge the demand.
Nature of endorsement
It is attested by the bishop of Norwich while he was clerk of the rolls of Chancery by order of the king took these recognizances and others for the sure accord between the parties and not because of debt, by which it seems to the council that the king if it pleases him that he should do grace and discharge her of the debt.
