Nature of request
Botiller shows that his father and his ancestors have been seised of the vill of Little Mitton with the lake of Mitton by feoffment of the king's ancestors. The abbot of Whalley and the heir of Richard le Botiller with the sufferance of the ministers have put boats on the lake and fished to Botiller's disinheritance. He requests that the king order the sheriff of Lancashire to remover the boats until the abbot and heir show by what right they claim the fishery.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the keepers of the same vill that they keep the lake in the same state without fishing or other harm as it came into the hand of the king by the death of the ancestors so that no damage will come to the king nor to the prejudice of the heir during the custody.
