Description
Petitioners
John Boklonde (Buckland), son of Ralph de Boklonde.
Name(s)
Boklonde (Buckland), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Boklonde states that Edward I leased to Boklonde the farm of the manor of Broughton and the Frenchmoor to be held at the will of the king, rendering £46 at the Exchequer per annum. He paid the farm to the executors of Queen Eleanor, of which farm the executors have been charged as appears by their account rendered at the Exchequer, which they were granted by Edward II from the day of her death until a certain time. However the sums are now demanded from him for the arrears, and any proofs that he had were burnt by Wollop the queen's executor. He requests remedy since he has paid the sum as is found in the account rolls in the Exchequer so that he not be disinherited by paying twice.
Nature of endorsement
The rolls of Chancery should be inspected to see if anything can be found concerning this business, and the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer should examine what is found in the rolls and inspect the account from the time of the queen. And if it is found that the money was paid they should make an allowance according to their discretion.
