The abbot and convent state that they have often suffered destruction and damage from the coming of the Scots, and now by all manner of royal purveyance they have lost crops growing on the land and sheep, and will have to disperse without the aid of the king.

The king is to be advised of how and where he is able to aid them.

This can be firmly dated to 1327 by the grant of £20 worth of victuals at Newcastle by Edward III for the relief on the canons of Blanchland (CCR 1327-30, p.170).
