Nature of request
The prior and canons show that they are charged to look after the poor and sick people coming to the hospital, but they are not able to sustain because of the contribution that the mayor, sheriffs and aldermen have taken from them against their will from their rents in London for their expenses in the eyre held in the tower of London. The prior and canons request that they be able to have a remedy and restitution of their goods.
Nature of endorsement
The prior and convent should have a writ in Chancery to the mayor and sheriffs of London that henceforth they should desist from levying the tallage, and they should make restitution of the sums levied.

The petition appears to date to 1320 or thereafter as a commission was issued for the eyre on 20 November 1320 (CPR 1317-21, p.527).
