Nature of request
1) Bisshop shows that he was a man of good character, but Beaufoy when he was a sheriff imprisoned him until he had granted him one hundred shillings, and that he was indicted by an appealer by which he is ruined. He requests remedy.2) It is also stated that Beaufoy took from the people of the bishop of Chester at Long Eaton next to Sawley twelve quarters of oats for which he received allowance on his account, but paid nothing to the people. They request remedy.1)
Nature of endorsement
He should come before the justices assigned to hear and determine pleas of ministers of the king in the county of Nottinghamshire and there let justice be done.2) As regards the second petition, they should sue before the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, and there let justice be done.
