Nature of request
The abbot and convent state that because of the mis-governance of John Gloucester late the abbot of the house the king took the abbey and its possessions into his hand for the relief of the house. Bray claims to have by the lease of Gloucester the farm of the manor of Tregonning and the church of St Keverne, and has occupied and still occupies the same by force, and takes the issues and profits and detains them without title with many charters and muniments of the house and will not deliver them or allow the abbot and convent or its guardians to have the manor or take the profits in contempt of the king to the damage and ruin of the house. The abbot and convent request that the council ordain a remedy in salvation of the house.
Nature of endorsement
The 20 of December in 7th year in the council of the lords the bishop of Bath, the chancellor and keeper of the privy seal it was agreed that a writ be made directed to Bray that he be before the council at the quinzene of St Hillary next on pain of £40 to answer the matters contained within the petition.
