Nature of request
The abbot shows that the Jews when they in England held of him in chief in a suburb of Bristol a piece of land for a graveyard rendering to him a certain rent per annum. After the Jews had been driven out of England there came the constable of Bristol and took the land into the king's hand as an escheat to the disinheritance of the abbot. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Nicholas Fermebaud and John de Stafford are assigned by a writ of Chancery to enquire of the truth of the contents in the petition, and certify the king.

The petition must date to 1290 or shortly after for the Jews were only expelled following the grant of a fifteenth in mid July 1290.
