Nature of request
Balasac requests that he be aided so that he can acquit himself of prison and be able to serve the king. He has served the king all his life in his wars of Aquitaine and has twice been captured. His expenses have not been paid and his land is lost as it lies in Mirambeau in the Saintonge which is held by rebels of the king, and which he has had to abandon to remain loyal to the king and the prince.

The notes on the guard date this to c. 1375 as the petition dates the fall of the capital of Buch to 1372, and the petition refers to the Black Prince in a way that suggests that he is still alive.
