Nature of request
Brumpton states that his father was imprisoned at York by the procurement of Despenser in 1322, and could not have delivery unless he leased lands and tenements in Shipton under Wychwood together with the advowson of the church there which were his inheritance, and he was forced to grant them by his charter to Despenser to save his life. He protested against this, but died before judgement. Brumpton requests that the king restore the tenements and avowson which are in the hand of the king by the forfeiture of Despenser.
