Nature of request
Bazatz shows that he is owed money from the king's father that he had lent to his Gascon men, who cannot repay it. He was granted at parliament at Westminster that he should receive the customs on wool, skins and hides from Dublin and Drogheda from which he has been unable to have anything because of the Scottish wars. He requests that he be assigned in addition to the new customs in Ireland and the customs of Waterford of wool, skins and hides, and has letters patent, writs close and the cockets of the customs for the same. He also requests that it be granted to him that he may be paid a certain sum by the treasurer in London from the Wardrobe of the late king for his expenses and damages.
Nature of endorsement
Bazatz should sue before the treasurer, and the treasurer when he has viewed what he has of the debt, and informed himself of all the business, should certify the king.

Dating to c. 1318. The petition is a near contemporary of SC 8/33/1632, though it is likely to be earlier. A petition by Bazas was answered in the parliament of Edward II held at York in his twelfth year (October 1318) (Docs. Illus. English History, p.45). This does not seem to have been an answer to either of these petitions, as both responses are different from the enrolment, but they are unlikely to be of a dramatically different date.
