Nature of request
Thomas de Berkele states that the king was bound to Maurice de Berkeley, whose heir and executor Thomas is, for the keeping of Berwick which Maurice undertook, now diverse debts are demanded from him by the Exchequer. He requests that the king order to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they make a search of the debts, and an allowance of them.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they should make a due allowance to Thomas according to the form of this petition.

The petition can be securely dated to 1331 as the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer were ordered to make allowance once they had confirmed Berkeley was the executor, and the debt was due (CCR 1330-3, p.270).
