Nature of request
The people show that Edward, at the time of his real power granted by his charter to the abbot of Reading a franchise such that no justice of the king for the county will be able to hold pleas or other petitions or suits within the franchise which extends to twelve leagues. This has meant that for the last twelve years that such pleas and sessions have been held in foreign places and small hamlets where little easements can be found. The people request remedy.
