Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/33/1611
Date
[1341 -c. 1360]
Description
Petitioners
John de Bayloil (Balliol).
Name(s)
de Bayloil (Balliol), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Bayloil shows that he was convicted in a plea of trespass in a sum of money against Brounleyk in court before the king. Brounleyk is dead, and Bayloil was taken at the suit of the king to make a fine for the trespass, for which he has received a pardon from the king. Nevertheless he has resided all the time in the Marshalsea. He requests that the king order his delivery from the prison.
Nature of endorsement
He should make settlement of the damages, and he will be delivered.
Places mentioned
Berkshire
Marshalsea, [Surrey]
Lombardy, [Italy].
People mentioned
Banekyn Brounleyk (Brounlisco), of Lombardy.
Note
Dated on the guard to 'after 1341', citing CFR 1337-47 p.205, when 'Vannus de Brounlisco' (clearly the same person) was commissioned in connection with loans from Italian merchants. The handwriting would suggest a date in the mid-fourteenth century.
