Nature of request
The executors of the testament of Robert Blechinton state that the abbot of Bayham was condemned in the court Christian of the archbishop of Canterbury, and of the bishop of Chichester in 250 marks because the abbot ejected Blechinton out of his church of Hailsham for which he was convicted. However the abbot brought a prohibition of the king against the executors that they were not able to plead in a court Christian for debts or chattels not in a testament or of matrimony, excluding the executors from demanding their condemnation in the court. Because their suit is frustrated in the court by the prohibition, they request that the king grant a writ to sue before the justices of the Bench that they be able to demand the debt, or that the abbot be convicted.1)
Nature of endorsement
