Nature of request
Bard requests that he be able to have the good will of the king to enter and hold the land which Adam de Thorp and Joan his wife wish to give to him in the vill of Edlesborough, and that he will give it to hastily because he was in the service of Latimer, the keeper of the Scottish march, and can show that he was in the king's service in the north.
Nature of endorsement
He is to submit it to the Exchequer.

The petition is dated on the guard to c.1323 on the basis of the license granted to John Eure of Dunstable to enfeoff Bard of land in Edlesborough (CPR 1321-4, p.282). However the petition concerned land that the Thorp's wished to enfeoff Bard with, so the licence may not date to 1323, though that is the date adopted here.
