Nature of request
Simon de Bedenhale, burgess of Berwick upon Tweed, the king's liege man born in England, states that he lost the tenements of his father and uncle, whose heir he is, in Berwick upon Tweed as a result of the war, and that after the surrender of the town he impleaded Adam Brekrone and William Mayden, who were then the tenants. However, during the plea the tenements were seized into the king's hand by the Chamberlain of Berwick, as Adam and William were adherents of the Scottish enemies. He requests a writ to the Chamberlain to inquire into the truth and to do justice and reason to him.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ based on his petition to the said Chamberlain to inquire into the articles of his said petition, and to return the inquisition in Chancery. When the Chancellor has examined that return he is to inform the king what is found by the said inquisition, and the king is further to give him his grace.
