Nature of request
Alexander de Baumburgh requests an inquiry, to be taken by John de Stryvelyn, John de Fenwyk, Roger de Blaykeston and Thomas de Seton, or by others as the king pleases, into allegations made by certain persons who wish him ill that the reversion of the lands of Robert de Baumburgh does not belong to him, as Robert's ancestor, Ralph le Porter, forfeited them as an adherent of the Scots, on account of which the king granted the lands to William de Hadham for life; and that if this suggestion be found to be false, the lands might be delivered to him.
Nature of endorsement
A commission is to be given to John de Stryvelyn and the others named in the petition that they, or two or three of them, are to inquire into the points contained in the same petition, and, when the inquisition has been returned in Chancery, justice is further to be done to the party.

Note
The commission for CIM 1307-49 no. 1896 is dated at Westminster, 8 July 18 Edward III [1344] (as also in CPR 1343-5 p.397), and the inquisition was held on the Saturday after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross [September 1344].CPR 1343-5 pp.444-445 is dated at the Tower of London, 3 April 1345.
