The petition states that the incident took place in August 1303. CCR 1302-7 p.109 is dated at Kinloss, 20 September 1303, so the petition must have been submitted very shortly after the event.The two letters in CCW 1244-1326 p.200 seem to date from late 1303: that from the King of France is dated to the morrow of Martinmas (12 November).
