SC 8/31/1501
Date
[1327-1328]
Description
Petitioners
Free tenants of Ardudwy in Snowdon.
Addressees
Lord Edward, King of England, and his council.
Nature of request
The free tenants of Ardudwy in Snowdonia request that they might hold the lands which are 'of the extent', belonging to their lands of the same commote, for the accustomed farm, because it is difficult for them to hold their lands without these ones.
Nature of endorsement
The Justiciar or his lieutenant is to be ordered to inform himself of the matters contained in this petition, and to what damage or prejudice etc. and he is to inform etc.
Places mentioned
Ardudwy commote, [Wales]
Snowdonia, [Wales].
Note
Although this petition is clearly closely related to SC 8/30/1500, and was probably presented at the same time, Petitions Relating to Wales, pp.40-1, seems less certain about the dating, dating it only to c. 1327-1328 - presumably with reference to CCR 1327-30 pp.294-295, dated at Northampton, 17 May 1328. However, it seems likely that the two petitions are probably contemporary.
