Edmund de Alegate states that he was given the office of porter of Windsor castle by the king's father, in consideration of his long service, and remained seised of it for eight years, but that, through procurement, he was expelled by a writ of the king. He requests that he might be reinstated.

CPR 1321-4 p.30 (the grant of the office of porter to the petitioner) is dated at Leeds, 29 October 1321. CCR 1327-30 p.501 is dated at Daventry, 29 October 1329. A note on the guard says, 'c. 1329. Petitioner appointed in 1321 (Pat.R. p. 30) and reference to 8 years' tenure. Still holding appointment in 1329 (Close R. p. 501) but no subsequent mention.'
