The abbot and convent of Aberconway complain that although by a charter of Edward I they should be quit of all amercements, the sheriffs of Caernarfonshire and Anglesey, and their sub-bailiffs often amerce them and harass them; they request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.Because this is not a thing known to the auditors of petitions, that a person should be quit of his own amercements, therefore before the king.He is to show the charter in Chancery, and justice is to be done.

This petition is dated to? 1307 by Petitions Relating to Wales, p.40, but a note on the guard dates it to? c. 1320 on the basis of the name of the clerk - 'H[er]l[aston]' written at the foot of the dorse. William de Herlaston or Harlaston was a Chancery clerk whose name often appears at the foot of petitions in the latter part of Edward II's reign.
