Nature of request
Henry Bodrugan and Richard Bonethon state that Thomas Nevill earlier petitioned the present parliament, complaining that they disseised him of a tin-mine in Cornwall, called the Cleker, with force and arms, and was granted writs to the Sheriff of Cornwall, to proclaim that they were to appear before the King's Bench on a certain day, to be examined by the justices on this matter; and that they defaulted for various reasons which they give, and were convicted in their absence; although they are not guilty, but acted on behalf of several poor men, who had complained to Henry Bodrugan, as Justice of the Peace, that Thomas Nevill had disseised them. They ask the king to ordain, by authority of parliament, that the act granting the writs against the petitioners to Thomas, and the writs, convictions, judgments and attainders following on from it, should be annulled, and the petitioners restored to their previous condition, and to their possessions, as if it had never been: with a proviso that the Prince of Wales is not to be sued or troubled for seizing any of the possessions which they forfeited.
