Commons in parliament
Nature of request
Jane Glyn, widow of John Glyn of Morval, complains of various assaults and robberies on her husband, culminating in his murder, perpetrated by a group of malefactors at the instigation of Thomas Clemens the elder, for which she can have no justice at common law, for fear of these people. She asks the commons to ask the king to send his writ, by authority of parliament, to the Sheriff of Cornwall, to make proclamation that the evil-doers are to appear before the king in person at the quinzaine of Hilary next, to answer to her for the death of her husband - with further details specified in the petition. She also asks that an obligation that the malefactors forced various friends of her husband to make be considered null and void.
