Date
[1467-1468]
Description
Petitioners
Ralph Hastynges (Hastings), esquire
Name(s)
Hastynges (Hastings), Ralph
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Ralph Hastynges states that a proviso was made in his favour in the act of resumption in the parliament held in the king's seventh year, but that this has been negligently worded and is not sufficient in law to benefit him. He asks the king that it may be removed from the rolls and records of parliament, and replaced with a more suitable one, according to the tenor given at the end of the petition, and that the Chancellor may thereupon issue writs to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to allow him the grants excepted in the proviso, and to replace the inadequate article in their records.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Note
This petition requests the alteration of a badly-worded exception of the act of resumption contained in the parliament of 7 Edward IV - the parliament of June 1467, which was later prorogued several times and ended in May 1468, and the exception is found on the roll of that parliament, in the words specified in the petition. The petition might have been presented later in the parliament, or shortly afterwards.
