Nature of request
The patten-makers of London complain about a statute made in the parliament of 4 Henry V, which forbids them to use aspen wood in their craft, in order to allow it to be used for arrows. They state that much of this wood is unsuitable for arrows, and that its use is not barred to other crafts, and ask the commons to ask the king to ordain, by authority of parliament, that patten-makers may henceforth use such aspen wood as is not suitable for arrows - with a fine for the use of wood from which arrows could be made.
