Nature of request
William Oldhall, knight, states that, through the machinations of ill-disposed persons, who aimed to acquire his lands and goods, he was declared a traitor by an act of the last parliament, commenced at Reading on 6 March, in the thirty-first year of the king's reign, the tenor of which is attached to this petition, and accused of having counselled John Cade, John Wylkyns and John Halton; and he was indicted, by means of threats and duress, and outlawed, but has now been acquitted, and the outlawry reversed. He asks the commons to ask the king to grant, by authority of parliament, that the act made in the last parliament be quashed and annulled, and that he might be restored to his good name, and he and his heirs enabled to inherit and to plead, and that he might be restored to all the possessions he had on the first day of that parliament, without any other suit for them, and to all the goods and chattels he has lost, and that he might be enabled to sue for these. Various provisos are included.
