Nature of request
Roger Chamberlain, knight, later of Greenwich in Kent, servant and Chamberlain of the Duke of Gloucester, states that he was indicted of great treasons, and was found guilty on the oaths of people who took them under threats and duress, and through this has lost his good name, as well as his lands and possessions. He asks the commons to ask the king to repeal and annul the record of the indictment, and the judgment given on it, by authority of the present parliament, and to restore him to his lands and possessions, and to his good name, and that the blood between him, his heirs, and his ancestors, might not be corrupted by this, but that they might be able to inherit, and sue and plead in the King's courts, as if the judgement had not taken place. Various provisos are included.

AS Rot. Parl. vol. V, p.449a-b (no. 36) makes clear, this petition was presented at the parliament held at Reading in March, 31 Henry VI (1453). It and CPR 1452-61 p.154 are dated at Westminster, 15 May 1454.
