She also states that she sued two petitions to Henry V for restitution of this manor, and that he ordered his Chancellor to do justice to her, but that each time the matter was ended by the death of one of the other parties. Note
The copy of the petition printed in Rot. Parl. vol. V pp.401a-403a (no. 1) has an endorsement: 'It was agreed in the parliament held on the Monday before the feast of St Martin, in the first year of the reign of King Henry, the sixth since the conquest, with the assent of the lords present in the same, that this petition should be sent into the King's chancery and that the Chancellor of England for the time being should do justice to the supplicant names in this petition, on and for the matters contained in the same, as the law of the land demands.'As is clear from this endorsement, this petition is from the November parliament of 1422 (1 Henry VI).CPR 1422-9 pp.90-91, presumably a result of it, is dated at Westminster, 4 January 1423, as is piece no.257A of C 81/672.CCR 1422-9 pp.403-4, dated at Westminster, 1 May 1428, and SC 8/29/1405, show that this matter did not end here.
