Nature of request
John Arundell, Lord Arundel and Mautravers, who is under age and in the king's wardship, states that Elizabeth Duchess of Norfolk, Joan de Beauchamp, Lady Bergavenny and Edmund, son of Roland Lentall, kinsmen and heirs general of Thomas, late Earl of Arundel, petitioned the commons to ask the King to ordain, by assent of parliament, that they might have delivery of all documents concerning their inheritance: but he complains that they have taken the documents concerning the petitioner's inheritance as well, as they were in the same chests and boxes in Arundel castle. He asks that he and his council, with the advice of the king's council, might be party to, and present at, any search for such documents to be made in future, so that he can have delivery of what belongs to him, and not be disinherited by the delivery of what belongs to the others.

This petition is dated in a note on the guard to 1421-1429, the dates of the minority of the petitioner (confirmed by CCR 1422-9 p.428, which is dated at Westminster, 22 February 1429), and further to 1421-1425, as Elizabeth, Duchess of Norfolk died in 1425 (confirmed by CCR 1422-9 pp.214-215, dated at Westminster, 17 September 1425, and pp.221-222, dated at Westminster, 10 October 1425.
